Lighting the Armour Center Fountain
Hi, neighbor! I'm Jacob. My wife Kim, our corgi Phoebe, and I live just up the street from the fountain.
This holiday season, the chain fence around the Armour Center fountain lights up with small, programmable lights: a soft, colorful glow, with seasonal shows anyone can pick from their phone — almost like a jukebox for light shows.
The project was presented to the HOA board, which gave it its full support.
This is the real thing — the same code that will run the lights, drawn on a model of the fountain. Drag to look around. Open the jukebox to pick your own show.
What to expect
- Hours Lights will turn on before dusk and off at 11:30 p.m. each night. Interactive phone controls will close at 10 p.m.
- Season Installation is planned for late October, with everything removed in January. Nothing will remain at the fountain during the rest of the year.
- Brightness & sound The lights will create a gentle glow around the fountain's perimeter — not a floodlight effect — and there will be no sound.
- Display style Shows will be festive, tasteful, and limited to calm seasonal and ambient designs.

Want to help bring it to life?
I'll be handling the design, assembly, installation, and January removal myself. Materials are the only expense — about $1,600 (itemized on the proposal page). A string of 100 lights costs about $32, and about $400 lights one quarter of the ring.
This is a neighborhood project, and I'd love for it to be funded by the neighborhood rather than by one household. The display doesn't depend on it — but if you'd like to help, a contribution of any amount would be sincerely appreciated, and every dollar will go directly toward the lights.
